Roots & Roars Journey is a 16-day immersive experience combining rural school volunteering, hands-on environmental conservation, and a focused predator-tracking safari in the Serengeti ecosystem. This journey connects community roots with the roar of the wild.

A 16-day progression from community roots to the wild roar.

Days 1–2

Arrival & Orientation

Day 1

Arrival

  • Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)
  • Meet & greet by program coordinator
  • Transfer to volunteer guesthouse near Arusha
  • Evening orientation briefing & group dinner

Day 2

Introduction

Morning: Full safety, cultural, and environmental awareness orientation. Swahili basics lesson.

Afternoon: Visit to rural partner village. Meet community leaders and school headteacher.

Evening: Reflection circle.

Rural School Support
Assist English classes, small group tutoring, creative arts, and sports activities at a rural primary school.

Market visit and guided traditional Tanzanian cooking session. Learn local dishes and food culture.

Reforestation & Action
Hands-on tree planting initiatives at community sites. Each participant plants native tree species monitored for long-term recovery.

Preparation

Final school visit and certificate presentation. Return to Arusha for safari orientation and wildlife safety briefing.

Phase 3

Safari Phase

4 Days Predator Focus Safari

Day 14

Serengeti

Transfer to Serengeti National Park via Ngorongoro. Afternoon predator-focused game drive targeting lions, cheetahs, and leopards.

Day 15

Tracking

Full-day predator tracking in the Serengeti. Early sunrise game drive, interpretation of predator behavior, and leopard habitat exploration.

Day 16

Crater

Early morning descent into Ngorongoro Crater. High concentration of predators and prey. Afternoon return to Arusha or airport transfer.
